The youngest affiliate of «Polymetal» JSC is «Mayskoe» Gold Mining Company, which has the license on the development of Mayskoe gold deposit. This deposit is one of five largest gold deposits in Russia. Mayskoe deposit was discovered in 1972. It is situated in 180 km from the Pevek port town in the Chaunsky District of Chukotka Autonomous Okrug.
Gold concentration plant will be set in exploitation in April 2013. Due to this, there will be possible to use the summer shipping season of 2013 to send the first lot of concentrate to Amur Hydrometallurgical Plant (Khabarovsk Krai) for processing.
Some underground development systems are applied at the deposit. At the same time, there is planned, that more than 80% of ore will be extracted, according to the sublevel open stoping without the backfilling. Taking into account, that the average power of ore lodes is 2.5 m, the losses of underground mining will be 11% in average, and impoverishment will be 22%.
The ore will be processed at the concentration plant on the industrial area of deposit. Technological scheme includes the one-stage breaking and three-stage grinding (one semi autogenous grinding mill and two ball mills). Such processes will make it possible to reach the final coarseness of 95% grade ore – 74 μm, required for the following flotation. Concentration ratio (froth product) will be not more than 14%, and extraction of gold into concentrate will be 88%.
Flotation concentrate will be exposed to autoclave leaching at Amur Hydrometallurgical Plant.
