Tsvetnye Metally
The 9-th issue of the journal “Tsvetnye Metally” (“Non-ferrous metals”) (September, 2012) shares the questions of the theory and practice of ore concentration, production and processing of non-ferrous metals, complex usage of crude ore, and economics and management of production.
This year is the 70-th anniversary of the scientific and technical service of Norilsk MMC. The article “Analysis of changing of a sulfide crude ore structure, which was processed during the flash smelting, and technological properties of operation under the conditions of reducing its richness” is devoted to this event. Considering the Polar Division of “Norilsk Nickel MMC”, since 2008, it has been observing the reduction tendency of the part of non-ferrous metals` sulfides in ores and concentrates after its concentration, along with increasing of non-metallic part, which includes refractory compounds. In connection with the preparation to reconstruction of some pyrometallurgical redivisions, the charge compound started including the products, which are uncharacteristic for the classic melting technology of sulphide crude ore on the matte.
Along with the temporary refuse from exploitation of some slag boreholes, changing the composition of processed charge led to the incrustation in the slag end face of flash smelter settler. The paper considers the reasons and proposes the package plan for the prevention of scull formation in flash smelters during the processing of low-calorie copper-nickel raw materials.
This issue continues the publication of articles from “Russian Copper Company” JSC, which generalize the implementation experience of innovation projects on enterprises, from the group of “Russian Copper Company” JSC. These articles share the mastering experience of processing technology of slags of autogenous processes and adsorption technology development of oxygen obtaining with realization of the reconstruction project of “Karabashmed” JSC.
The article by M. G. Yakovlev, V. B. Kuskov and V. A. Utkov presents the reference technological estimation of the preparation methods of dump red muds of alumina production for the dispatch and processing. There are compared the technological indices of the cakes obtaining from wet red muds in rotating furnace and on sintering machine, which could be used for melting in open hearth furnaces.
The paper by M. E. Samoshina, N. A. Belov and S. V. Savchenko presents the system analysis of the phase composition of the piston-type silumins AK12MMгH and AK12M2MгH, on the basis of the thermodynamic calculations of multicomponent phase status routines. There is determined the difference in the crystallization character of two alloys. There is researched the casting microstructure of the piston-type silumins and the annealing influence on this microstructure.
