Gornyi Zhurnal
Mining Journal issue 2, February 2019 is devoted to the 25th anniversary of the Mirny Polytechnic Institute, branch of the Ammosov North-Eastern Federal University (hereinafter, MPI NEFU). This issue publishes contributions from MPI NEFU and cooperative organizations.
This Journal issue opens with a review prepared by E. A. Soloviev, Director of MPI NEFU, and A. A. Goldman, University Dean Adviser. The article is entitled: Higher Education in Western Yakutia. It traces history of the University and offers details of its present. The fruit of training, instructional, education and research activities at MPI NEFU, as well as its international cooperation is described.
All articles appear in the traditional sections of the Journal. The mining section articles discuss geomechanical and technological aspects of hybrid (open pit/underground) mining of diamond deposits in the region.
This issue provides ample information on mineral processing and integrated use. The article on studies into processing of current and old diamond ore tailings prepared by Academician V. A. Chanturia and coauthors stands out in this regard.
In the Personnel Training section, the authors share experience gained in application of new pedagogical approaches aimed to awoke interest of students in general knowledge through its correlation with mining technologies.
Readers of the Mining Journal will also find practically useful information in the articles in other sections of this issue.
