Gornyi Zhurnal
The October 2018 issue of the Mining Journal (No. 10) publishes articles prepared by the fellows of the Institute of Mining, Far East Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The articles spotlight mineral resources, experience and growth prospects of the mining and processing industry within the Khabarovsk Territory. The Khabarovsk Territory is by right one of the leaders in mineral mining in Russia while the mining industry is one of the top-priority lines of economic development in the region. The articles are grouped under four headings: Raw Material Base, Development of Deposits, Processing and Complex Usage of Mineral Raw Materials, Environmental Protection.
Among the other publications, the article entitled Innovations in Education in Mining and Geology in the Journal’s section Personnel Training is of interest. This article sets the task of shaping a brand-new model for education and training of highbrow human resource—to-be specialist in mining and geology. Furthermore, MBA MINING Program meant for top and middle management in the mining industry as well as the training course to hunter technically gifted kinds prone to being experts in mining and geology is presented. It is also worthy to paying attention to the article entitled Guidelines for Selecting Ground Support System for the Talnakh Operations Based on the Rock Mass Quality Assessment. These guidelines are applied in planning and design of various-purpose stopes and openings in high-stress or weakened rock masses, as well as in construction and operation of such mines as Oktyabrsky, Taimyrsky, Mayak, Komsomolsky and Skalisty.
