In March 2016, Hertwich Engineering successfully commissioned a continuous homogenizing plant with a capacity of 118.000 tons per year at the Seydişehir plant of Eti Alüminyum A.Ş., Turkey.

With a major investment the Turkish company Eti Alüminyum, a subsidiary of Cengiz Holding, is building a fully integrated billet production facility for the extrusion industry at its Seydişehir plant.

The new electrolysis plant is under construction, and the casthouse, which started operating in 2008, is currently being extended. Currently around 130 Turkish extrusion plants are operating a total of 230 extrusion lines.

In the context of this project Eti Alüminyum has placed an order with Hertwich for the supply of a state-of-the-art continuous homogenizing, sawing and packing plant for 118,000 tons per year of extrusion billets. The new plant was commissioned in March 2016 and processes logs from two casting pits with diameters of 152, 178 and 203 millimeters. It is designed to enable rapid diameter change and is noted for precise temperature control in the holding section of the furnace. Overall, the scope of the delivery includes a saw, the homogenizing furnace with air cooling station and a semi-automatic strapping machine for bundling the homogenized billets.
