A new construction of box caliber with double output providing the improvement of deformation conditions of metal in a caliber and increasing the rollers’ lifetime is developed and explored. Basing on the run over theoretical and experimental researches, an adequacy of theoretically calculated wear intensity indexes is proved to the real wear parameters and possibility of prognostication the character of box calibers wear. Industrial testings have been undertaken in the conditions of continuous billet mill of Enakievo metallurgical works. It is determined using industrial tests that introduction of a new construction of calibers allowed to decrease wear of calibers during rolling of square billet 150х150 mm by 5.9%, while amount of rolled metal per 1 mm of caliber wear increased by 9.7%. In the meantime, the area of maximal wear moved to caliber bottom. Industrial testings at 600 rolling mill of Alchevsky integrated metallurgical works allowed to decrease metal consumption during rolling of 100 mm square billet by 46% per one regrinding and to increase the number of regrinding thereby to prolong the lifetime of rollers. Obtained results testified also that sliding in the caliber bottom and at a small section of side plane has positive character. Forward flow decreases and becomes negative eith approximation to the area of roll grooves. At the side of caliber, sliding is equals to zero in the distance appr. 20 mm from caliber bottom.
