There is given a short review of a current status of the global feldspathic industry, including Russia and Republic of Karelia. The basic consumption of feldspathic raw materials is found in glass and ceramic industry. The Republic of Karelia wins the first place in Russia on explored reserves of ceramic pegmatites, but only 0,5 % of pegmatites (to production across Russia in 2010) are extracted.

Pegmatites, which are territorially presented in the south of republic by Pitkyarana and Ulyalega fields, and in the north – by the group of deposits of Chupinsk-Louhsk and Kemsk-Belomorsk areas – concern to traditional feldspathic rocks in Karelia. The considerable part of pegmatite deposits was developed. Reserve base is separate objects with the counted-up stocks (group of Ulyalega, Kemsk-Belomorsk fields etc.). There are presented the nonconventional sources of feldspathic raw materials such as: granites, quartz porphyries, halleflintas, syenites and anorthosites, which aren't considered by State Balance. Geological and technological studying of nonconventional objects shows that all breeds have generally textural and structural characteristics, which are favorable for enrichment and in the long term can have paramount value as sources of feldspathic raw materials.
