Abstract

The problem of seismically safe mining providing during the combined “International” kimberlite pipe deposit operation of “ALROSA Ltd.” is considered in this article.

Since 2005 re-opening and reconstruction of the “International” open pit mine of “ALROSA” Company have been continuing under the operating underground mine up to date. Thereupon instrumental control and observation of seismic single blasts impact on guarded objects in the “International” open pit mine are made by the institute “Yakutniproalmaz” and Earth’s Crust Institute (Siberian Branch) of Russian Academy of Science.

As results of the operations, local areas with higher seismic conductivity were discovered, experimental dependence of ground fluctuation rate and given charge weight was acquired, proportionality coefficients for seismically safe charge weights were determined. Recommended parameters of the drilling and blasting operations provide seismically safe mining with required capacity during combined “International” pipe operation.
