Abstract

The article is dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Talnakh Concentrator operation, being a part of the «Norilsk Nickel» Mine-and-Mill Complex transpolar operations. The main milestones of the Talnakh Concentrator upgrade and technical re-equipment Project realization with the capacity increase to 16 million tons per year by total ores quantity are presented. Brief history of the Talnakh Concentrator design and construction, as well as the earlier proposed prospects for its development, are described. The period from 2002 to 2011 is considered in more detail, when the main tasks of the investment project first stage were implemented: research and design works, completed in 2005 by development and submission of the Talnakh Concentrator upgrade project to the State Examination. The main technical concepts, adopted in the Talnakh Concentrator upgrade project, as well as the research works of 2006–2009, aimed at the technical-and-economic performance indicators' improvement in accordance with the general concept of the «Norilsk Nickel» Mine-and-Mill Complex development, are reviewed. New engineering and technical solutions, taken as a basis for the next Project design stage, started in 2011, with the view to correct the Talnakh Concentrator upgrade project documentation and submit it to the State Examination, develop detailed drawings and provide for construction and commissioning of the rehabilitated Plant.
