The technology of production of complex synthetic lowmelting-temperature fluxes has been  developed and manufacture of this new product for iron and steel industry has been started. Fluorine-carbon wastes of aluminium electrolytic production are the main raw materials for production of these fluxes. Chemical composition of synthetic fluxes is examined. Organic part of synthetic fluxes is presented by carbon providing required temperature conditions for passing oxidizing processes, while mineral part of these fluxes is presented by fluoric salts of sodium and aluminium, ensuring their technological advantages comparing with conventional slag-forming materials. Relationship between melting temperature of removing slags and blo wing period is analyzed, as well as dependence of toughness of removing slags from their melting temperature. Fluorine distribution between slag and gas phase in the basic oxygen converter is shown. Physical and chemical parameters of removing slags during melting of lowcarbon steels in 350 t converters at West-Siberian Metallurgical Works (ZSMK) have been examined in order to reveal features of slag frothing when using synthetic fluxes and search of efficient methods for managing the slag procedure during converter melting. It is concluded that conditions of converter melting and cleaning systems of converter gases provide environmental safety of usage of synthetic low-melting-temperature fluxes.
