Abstract

The metallurgical features of melting and in-line melt treatment of molten Al—Mg—Si-alloys, the account which reduces the deadweight loss of metal and energy consumption, and effectively prepares a melt in terms of content of nonmetallic inclusions, hydrogen and nucleation for the operation of DC billets casting, are discussed. This ensures the high level of metal quality for extruders.
