Abstract
Lightweight construction design can be described as a focal point of research within the automotive industry taking into account economical aspects considering the minimization of fuel consumption and associated emissions. Increasing safety requirements and the improvement of crash performance are further points of interest in this context. Hereby the main potential can be expected within the composition of the body-in-white, which can be optimized by means of using structural components featuring minimized sheet metal thicknesses as well as tailored properties, which is focus of the following publication.
