Ores, ferrous metals and alloys identifi cation is the assignment of an object or its components to a specific individual substance, material, class of substances or materials. It is aimed at ensuring the activity of the metallurgical complex and then machine-building production. Accelerated methods are designed for rapid identifi cation. They significantly determine the improvement of safety and competitiveness of metallurgical products. Dynamic conditions and huge scale of modern industrial production in the metallurgical industry, require effective production control and timely adjustment of the production process. Therefore, it is often not necessary to carry out expensive longterm analysis to identify non-compliance with the established quality indicators of ores, a metal or alloy with a standard or other regulatory document. It is because of this that accelerated determination of samples chemical composition is proposed using Mobile X-50 X-ray express analyzer in order to identify grades of ores, ferrous metals and alloys. Its obvious advantage is the ability to quickly analyze up to 30 elements at a time for one test and to obtain reliable chemical composition data using the basic parameters method without any calibration of the device. Results of metal chrome and ferrochrome samples chemical composition experimental determination are presented. As required, measurements were performed 3 times on each sample. Data of obtained spectrograms of analyzed samples with results of mass fractions of elements in three measurements were compared with technical requirements for corresponding metallurgical products. Analytical determination of compliance of chemical composition of investigated objects with standardized composition of ores, ferrous metals and alloys makes it possible in many cases to identify grades of investigated samples. It has been experimentally confirmed that the use of the Mobile X-50 X-ray express analyzer allows fast identification of ores, ferrous metals and alloys, which is important and necessary in metallurgy and other industries.
