The forty-third annual Plaksin Readings Conference was held in Irkutsk on September 9–14, 2019. The event was visited by 164 specialists from 41 organizations, including 18 universities, academic and industrial institutes, and 23 large mining and metallurgical companies. The meeting was attended by researchers from Russia, South Africa, France, Germany, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan. The topics discussed at the Plaksin Readings-2019 were due to the growing demand for effective technologies for the mining and processing of mineral raw materials, which would reduce the loss of valuable components and ensure more comprehensive processing of subsoil resources. It was noted at the meeting that the current degree of theoretical elaboration and substantiation of respective process solutions in the field of mineral processing allows solving the problems of processing refractory and complex, including technogenic, raw materials. It is deemed expedient to focus the research conducted by the leading organizations in the field of mineral processing in the priority areas of designing innovative processes for the recovery of fine micro- and nanoparticles of non-ferrous, noble and rareearth metals from refractory and unconventional mineral raw materials based on a combination of effective processing methods, hydrometallurgical approaches, physicochemical and energy impacts. The meeting materials were published in the collection titled «Problems and prospects of effective processing of mineral raw materials in the 21st century». Plaksin Readings-2020 will be held in Apatity.
