The metallurgical industry is not only a supplier of metal products, products and slags for the construction industry, but also its customer in the reconstruction and construction of its own facilities. Building mixtures made on high-quality Portland cement without additives are characterized not only by relatively high compressive strength, but also by have several disadvantages. The processes of hydration of cement mortars and concretes during hardening are accompanied by exothermic reactions, which leads to the formation of a large number of microcracks in normal and elevated temperatures. One of the major drawbacks of concrete on a portland cement without additives is the low resistance to sulfate aggression of soils. A known solution to this problem is the use of slag cements and slag Portland cement. Granulated slags, being products of high-temperature processes, carry a huge stock of thermal and chemical energy, which makes them highly reactive substances that can be converted into high-quality slag cements with a little additional processing. In the work, the expediency of practical utilization of own slags of metallurgical production as part of building mixtures was considered on the example of PAO «Severstal». In order to identify the demand of secondary products of metallurgical production and the development of alternative proposals for their further involvement in economic circulation, an analysis was made on the education, processing and sale of slag products. The main directions of sales of slag products were determined, the reasons for consumer demand fluctuations were analyzed, the required volumes of concrete and cement-sand mortars were considered where it is possible to use cementless slag binder in the reconstruction and construction of PAO «Severstal». Technical reports and quality certificates confirm the compliance of the domain granulated slag and crushed stone of PAO «Severstal» with the quality indicators and environmental requirements for use in industrial, civil and road construction. Recommendations on the introduction of slag binders technology in the territory of the Cherepovetsky industrial region and their subsequent implementation in the construction industry are proposed.
