One of the most important stages of pipe production is the operation of obtaining a sleeve from a solid billet on the cross-screw rolling mills. Proper adjustment of deformation tools, which include rolls, mandrels and rulers, largely determine the quality of not only the sleeves, but also the finished pipes. The importance of the correct operation of screw mills increases when it comes to the production of high-quality products, which include, above all, pipes for oil production. Therefore, to create advanced technical solutions, it is necessary to create new methods for assessing the geometric and kinematic parameters of the process, which could take into account all the complexities of the metal movement. Adequately theoretically describe the movement of the metal when flashing is difficult, since the workpiece performs in addition to the translational motion and more screw rotation, each metal particle comes into contact with the roll several times. The trajectory of the metal particles from one roll to another is called the helix step. Most modern methods of evaluating the geometry of the process take into account only the longitudinal shaping of the workpiece, not taking into account the nature of the shape in the cross sections at each step of the helix. The solid-state model of the screw firmware mill was built, the problems of finite-element modeling were set and solved. The results of solving the problems were processed using the method of estimating the geometry of the deformation site. The results obtained allowed us to establish the influence of the parameters of the tool settings of the screw piercing mill on the nature of the workpiece forming in the deformation zone.
