Different types of raw materials, containing precious metals, bring into a refining division a lot of base elements (nickel, copper, lead, arsenic, antimony, tin, selenium, and tellurium). Different stages of raw materials processing are accompanied by many intermediate products with a low content of precious metals fed for dressing operations. As a result, precious metals are extracted to target products and base elements are processed to low grade return materials. If there are no discharge routes, some impurities are circulated in a production flow, resulting in a growth of low grade intermediate products, higher expenses for precious metal refining, inefficient use of power resources and chemicals, lower equipment utilization efficiency. It is shown that changes in a scope of raw materials and production processes result in a redistribution of base elements by intermediate products. We stated main sources of incoming base elements in a composition of mineral and secondary raw materials. To provide reliable base element discharge routes for a refining process cycle, we continuously controlled their content in main return products and distribution by secondary products. We introduced special software to facilitate collection, accumulation and processing of information about flows of base elements. A prepared metallurgical balance, containing data about impurities, helped us to make decisions about routes of discharging base elements from the production cycle. The paper presents the results of learning on an industrial scale how to process impurities to concentrates and dress such products with producing materials, where base elements are concentrated. We arranged constant flows of discharging base metals (copper, lead, antimony, selenium, and tellurium) from a refining process cycle. Synchronized supply and discharge flows of base element impurities introduced at Krastsvetmet contributed to higher efficiency of a refining process and its reliability.
