The development of hard-to-recover reserves in the fields of the Far North is complicated by their uneven commissioning throughout the territory. The performed diagnostics of design solutions for the operation of the Irelyakh and Urengoi fields showed the negative impact of mining and geological conditions on the development of reserves for various periods of time for commissioning production facilities into development. The development of the fields involved periphery region to increase the final recovery rates. The previous period at the fields was justified by the phased commissioning of sections, partially covering the gas-bearing area. Based on the diagnostics of geological field data, predicted technological indicators of production were calculated and proposals for improving the existing development system to increase the final recovery rate were made. During the current period, in connection with the refinement of data on geological conditions and mineral reserves of the productive horizons, the prepared design solutions and development indicators have been adjusted. For the purpose of current forecasting and justification of extraction ratio, the use of the differential–contact condensation method based on experimental simulation of mining under conditions of uneven commissioning of ore bodies across the field area has been proposed. The results of the studies showed that along with the development of reserves up to depletion, formation gas drainage partially occurs under conditions of contact condensation, which contributes to a premature increase in the loss of reserves and, consequently, to a decrease in the extraction ratio.
