Abstract

The paper presents an analysis of the results of microstructural studies of agglomerates from a charge based on iron ore concentrate from ferruginous quartzites obtained in an agglomeration cup type apparatus designed to reveal the features of the mechanism of migration of chemical elements between the mineral constituents of agglomeration cake. Insufficient knowledge of this issue is due to the complexity of the practical use of the information provided. Moreover, the peculiarities of migration of alkali metals, cobalt cannot be predicted on the basis of general laws of geochemistry and require experimental verification. During the study, the chemical composition of the minerals was determined by scanning electron microscopy. At the same time, the minerals themselves were classified into ore minerals, ferroalcium olivines, high-iron minerals, dicalcium silicate, and others. In this work, the relationship between the content in minerals FeO + Fe2O3, MgO, K2O, Al2O3 with basicity parameters B2 = CaO/SiO2, B4 = (CaO + MgO)/(SiO2 + Al2O3) and the relationship of the content in minerals MnO, CoO with FeO + Fe2O3 and MgO, as well as the relationship of the content in minerals K2O and Na2O with SiO2. Based on the data on the distribution of chemical elements in the mineral components of the agglomerate structure from the charge based on iron-ore concentrate from ferruginous quartzites, the features and mechanism of the distribution of elements were revealed. Understanding the features and mechanism of distribution of elements in the agglomeration of iron ore materials is necessary in connection with the development of technologies for extraction processes in ferrous metallurgy, the effectiveness of which is based on the rational use of physical and chemical properties of solid and liquid reaction products, and will be useful while optimizing the operation of existing technological lines and developing new ones.
