The paper is presented to the history of Sestroretskiy weapon works in the XVIII century. It was established by Peter the Great near St. Petersburg, on the Baltic seashore. He has appointed Vilim Gennin, the best metallurgist in Russia at that time, to organize the plant construction. The main works were fi nished in 1724. At first the works has no own raw material base, and its successful development has started since discovery of nearby iron ore deposit at Dybuny and erection of Chernorechensky iron and steel works there. In the second part of XVIII century Sestroretskiy works actively manufactured cannons and other weapon (especially during Russian-Turkish wars), but also produced coins and metallic bridges (for the first time in Russia).
