Abstract

The measured directed on development and mastering of crane rails at EVRAZ NTMK are described. The conducted investigations were finalized in selection of the cooling procedure including counter-bending of rails by a drag-over transfer mechanisms with bend deflection not less than 400 mm per rail base; rails are cooled laying on their side. Then rails are transferred from the central cooling bed to the final processing area for processing of their edges. Construction of crane rails according to the requirements of GOST R 53866-2010 means slightly more thickened rail web and substantially strengthened and smooth transition from rail web to rail head. This essential difference does not allow to manufacture crane rails in accordance with GOST 4121-96 and GOST R 53866-2010 using the same equipment. Thereby purchase and preparation of additional equipment will be required. It will include the rolls of roughing, intermediate pre-finishing and finishing stands with total mass 132 tons and total cost about 14.5 mln. roubles for each shape and dimension type.
