Abstract

The materials of 2016 conference in Düsseldorf devoted to anniversary of “Stahlmarkt” journal publishing are presented. More than 100 experts have discussed different problems connected with the development of steel market: climatic aspects, putting into practice the digital technologies, “Industry 4.0” implementation, directions of innovations in iron and steel industry, regulation of productivity, development of new materials. Importance of 2016 events on the future ways of development of global iron and steel industry is emphasized. Unfair boundary conditions stipulated by increased Chinese import of steel products and influence of possible additional expenses caused by the system of quota selling of carbon dioxide emissions are analyzed. Situation in Turkish metallurgy and its effect on European iron and steel industry is observed separately. The strategies of keeping competitiveness in the changed boundary conditions are presented.
