Abstract

According to the recent forecasts of steel market development, prepared by the audit and consulting company “PricewaterhouseCoopers” (PwC), the global consumption of steel will rise by 2.5% annually until 2025 and will reach the level of 2.23 mlrd. tons. It is less than mentioned in 2015 forecast by 5% (2.35 mlrd. tons). Dominating role of China will continue, but the rates of consumption rise in China will be lower that the global average value. CIS countries will leave in negative dynamics of steel consumption, while European market will have stable increase of steel demand by approximately 1.8 % annually. NAFTA countries will be characterized by relatively successful steel consumption. German steel producers will have advantage in the global competition due to their large innovative potential. However, in the future they have to pay more attention to the whole chain of added value creation.
