Abstract

The research focuses on coal mining and processing-related production and social infrastructure constituents of economy in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). This study is aimed at evaluation of principles and mechanisms of shaping the South Yakutia coal cluster. The scope of the research includes the review of domestic and foreign experience gained in the area of clustering branches of regional economy. Technical, organizational and financial conditions of clustering are revealed. The production and economic links between the coal mining and processing companies in the South Yakutia are studied. It is found possible to enhance performance efficiency of these companies by strengthening their interaction within a regional cluster. The research findings prove the expediency of creation of the South Yakutia coal cluster based on Yakutugol Holding (Neryungri). The structural model of the cluster is proposed. The authors analyze and estimate the modern production and resource bases, and defi ne expansion capabilities of the regional and global market for coal products.
The study has been supported by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, in the framework of the main body of the government task on R&D in the area of Scientific Evaluation of Scenarios for the Key Industries in the North-East of Russia, Project No. 3051.
