Abstract

This paper offers the qualitative method of confirmation of chemical adsorption of flotation reagents on mineral surface by the formed complex compounds coloring. Color conformance of the compounds, formed on mineral surface after the contact with complexing agents, was found by microscopic investigations of chalcopyrite, pyrite and sperrylite thin sections, and pyrite particles with artificially applied gold microparticles. This work used the flotation agents, forming the color compounds with copper, platinum, gold and iron cations. Reagent adsorption on minerals was carried out from water solutions. Sample surface after washing and drying was investigated, comparing with results, obtained before the contact with reagents. Morphology and element composition of mineral and new formation surface were investigated on analytical scanning electron microscope LEO 1420VP with X-ray energydispersive microanalyzer INCA 350. Optical microscope Olympus Bx51 and laser scanning confocal microscope KEYNCE VK-9700 were used for the assessment of new formations color. Color identification of flotation reagents may be the addition to the traditional direct and indirect methods of investigation of selective reagent adsorption mechanism and be conductive to the right choice of their efficient application conditions.
This work was carried out with the financial support of the grant of the President of Russian Federation for the state support of the leading scientific schools “Scientific school of academician Valentin A. Chanturiya” NSh-748.2014.5 (НШ-7608.2016.5). Authors acknowledge V. A. Minaev and A. N. Krasnov for the researches, carried out on optical microscope Olympus Bx51 and laser microscope KEYNCE with VK-9700.
