Abstract

Productivity of a rolling mill depends on different parameters. It is required to increase service life with simultaneous lowering of expenses. It is clear that emergency situations with drives of rolling stands can occur practically at every enterprise, and strip tear of too large torque can cause these emergency cases. The company R+W Antriebselemente GmbH has developed preventive clutches of TOROSET ST kind and has suggested technical solutions that can quickly and reliably interrupt the forced connection between entrance and exit sides of drive in the case of accident and thereby minimizes risk of equipment damage and down-time. The clutches are supplied with different modifications and dimensions, both for direct and indirect drives. Areas of application and operation principle is con-sidered.
