The paper considers a possibility for the Butkinsky Mining and Processing Complex gravity bulk ilmenite-zircon concentrate final concentration stage flow sheet development with a view to produce on-specification marketable products. Currently, the main marketable product of the Butkinsky Mining and Processing Complex is quartz-feldspar concentrate, while a commercial final concentration stage is not provided in rougher ilmenite-zircon concentrate flow sheet. The sample material composition study permitted to draw a conclusion on advisability of dry magnetic and electrostatic separation application in rougher ilmenite-zircon concentrate final concentration stage. Owing to application of dry processing methods, not only ecological performance is improved, but higher processing results are also obtained in consequence of absence of liquid resistance in material flow. The results of laboratory testing of magnetic and electrostatic separators of the PBSTs, EVS and ELKOR types are presented with a view to determine efficiency of their operation on the type of material in question. The ilmenite concentrate production flow sheet and commercial standard sizes of equipment are recommended. Further opportunities and prospects are marked with respect to gravity bulk rougher ilmenite-zircon concentrate final concentration stage technology development.
