Usage of regenerative burning systems in the periodical heating furnaces at iron and steel works and in forging production has been practically tested for many years. Practical application of such systems is connected with real positive effect, as a result of essential power saving in the cases of large consumed energy and for continuous technological routes. Periodical procedure of operation of heating furnaces, e.g. in forging shops, such system was not efficient due to discontinuity of the process and arising large expenses. Therefore, additional improvements in “burner — regenerative chamber — management” combination helped to develop the system able to provide efficient operation in different technological procedures and taking into account rise of gas prices and harsh requirements in the field of cutting harmful emissions. The paper describes technical solutions developed and put into practice at forging production facilities of Saarschmiede and Böhler Edelstahl. Usage of regenerative systems and flat-flame burners by Andritz Maerz GmbH is observed; the company has developed AM-Regtakt adjusting system that solves the problem of zonal and pair distribution of burners, depending on setting parameters in the framework of total control and managing systems. Industrial experience has been generalized and analyzed for execution of the following orders.
