Abstract

Development of technology and equipment of rolling production in Russia during several last years has been analyzed. The period since the previous VIII Congress of Rollermen (2010–2012) has been analyzed, including distribution of capital investments in metallurgical works and the most important putting into practice of rolling mills (heavy plate 5000 mill at Vyksa Metallurgical Works, 2000 cold rolling mill at Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works and merchant bar mill at Rostov Electric Metallurgical Works). In addition, the forthcoming inauguration in 2013 of several rolling complexes in Vorsino near Kaluga, in Balakovo (Saratov region), in Tyumen and in Chelyabinsk is observed. Detailed analysis is presented separately in the areas of sheet rolling (heavy plate, hot and cold rolled sheet, coated sheet) and section rolling (bars, sections, rails) is given. Special attention is made to manufacture of rolled products from stainless steel and to tube and pipe production. Entering of Russian Federation on the World Trade Organization (WTO) has originated a complex of problems for Russian metallurgists, and the author suggests the ways for improvement of situation (rising the quality of metal products, decrease of their cost, training of personnel and protection of internal market from unfair competition. Practical part of the Congress has been organized in rol ling shops of “Severstal” — Cherepovets Iron and Steel Works.
