The new concept of the unit of Siemens VAI Metals Technologies incorporates the processes of injection under pressure of desulphurizers (e.g. lime and calcium carbide) with dosing volumetric charge of magnesium granulate according to the patented technology Simetal-Feldhaus. The principle of Simetall-Feldhaus technology is based on volumetric charge of a “dual-plunger pump” with absolutely exact and repeatable results. The charged amount in this system doesn’t depend on pressure adjusting and is determined by combination of the volume pushed off by a plunger and material density of charged desulphurizer. Therefore, actual final value always corresponds to preset one. This combination, in connection with Level 2 process optimization system, provides precise and low-expensive dosing of separate desulphurizers and, therefore, high flexibility relating to operation procedure as well as required level of sulphur content. Level 2 system of dynamic optimization guarantees “intelligent” adjusting of desulphurization process. The model of preliminary calculation reflects the process from the beginning and makes calculation taking into account processing time and minimal expenses for the most low-expensive procedure; it also reflects optimal intensity of injection, required amount of desulphurizers and necessary operating cycle. The “on-line” model operates in cycling conditions and determines actual chemical composition of iron and slag as well as their temperature.
