Abstract

For the first time, the customers from South African Republic got acquainted with open pit equipment of “BELAZ” JSC in 1991. At that time the first dump truck BELAZ-7548 with 42 t of payload capacity was supplied to South African Republic. Nowadays, “BELAZ” equipment is operated at three open pits of South African Republic:
–“Leeuwfontain Colliery” coal pit;
–“Elandspuit Colliery” coal pit;
–“Sishen Iron Ore Mine” iron ore pit.
The mine dump trucks of all world major manufacturers are operated at the “Sishen Iron Ore Mine” open pit for the transportation of high-abrasive rock in severe conditions at the temperature of +40 C and altitude of 1600 m above the sea level. In 2011, these dump trucks included five dump trucks BELAZ-75302 with 220 t of payload capacity and two dump trucks BELAZ-75137 with 136 t of payload capacity. According to the reports of customers, “BelAZ” dump trucks are one of the best on productivity and fuel economy among the competitors. Due to the fact, that “BELAZ” mine dump trucks proved themselves as reliable and efficient, Mynbou Rigs Afrika Pty Ltd. Company plans to expand the fleet of “BELAZ” dump trucks in the “Sishen” mine, and to start the supply of “BELAZ” equipment to other open pits of Anglo American company.
