Tsvetnye Metally

Issue no. 10 of Tsvetnye Metally was prepared together with the Faculty of Minerals Processing at the Saint Petersburg Mining University, which is to celebrate its 250th anniversary in 2023. This issue is entirely about the history of the faculty, as well as its research and teaching activity. Today, the university, which is about to mark its 250th anniversary, is a 21st century multi-disciplinary and multi-level educational institution.

The opening article tells the history of the University as a leading science school. Over a long period of time, the Mining Institute (University) saw a rise of a community of metallurgists who are capable of solving complex problems of science and technology and generate new scientific ideas. The academic papers cover the findings and developments attained by the University’s experts and partners. The issue encompasses the following sections: Benefication; Light Metals and Carbon Materials; Rare Metals; Automation; From the History of Metallurgy.

Of interest is a historical paper telling about the Iossas, a family of metallurgists, and a paper that looks at solving some converter problems.
